When does the Little League season start and end?
The Spring season begins in February with Opening Day generally scheduled around the second week of March. Depending on the division you are in, the regular season will run through mid May.
The Fall season generally starts mid-August and runs through the end of October. Fall baseball is inter-league play and a great way to hone skills or as a transition to the next division.
How do I know which Division I should register my child?
Please review our detailed list of divisions HERE. If you still have questions, please email the Head Player Agent or the Player Agent for the division you are inquiring and they will be happy to provide guidance.
Do I have to live within Fair Oaks Orangevale Little League (FOVLL) boundaries to play for FOVLL?
Yes and NO. Fair Oaks Orangevale Little League's boundaries are best explained by using the map of the boundary area HERE. To determine if you are eligible to play in FOVLL, follow the link and enter your home address OR the address of your child’s school. If either is located within the league boundaries as defined on the map, then you are eligible to play in FOVLL. Please click here for more information on the Little League boundary rule.
When are Practices and Games?
Practice and game schedules are determined by volunteer coaches based on the division your player is signed up for. Typically, teams have two practices and two games per week (typically 1 game during the week and one on Saturday). Please note that practice frequency may vary depending on the coach and age group. Coaches usually finalize schedules once teams are formed after the registration period ends.
Additional Information:
- Practice frequency might vary as coaches tailor schedules to the specific needs and age groups of their teams.
- Schedules are finalized once teams are formed post-registration, allowing coaches to plan efficiently for the season ahead.
We recognize the importance of planning and appreciate your understanding as coaches work to provide a positive and organized experience for both players and families.

Can I choose what team my child plays on?
Fair Oaks Orangevale Little League tries to accommodate parent requests for our Tee Ball and Coach Pitch divisions. Farm and above are 'draft' level divisions, and this limits what we can do to accommodate requests.
When will I know what team my child is playing on?
Farm, Minors, Majors, Juniors and Seniors division managers will contact players immediately following team drafts, usually within a day or two. Drafts are typically held the beginning of February. Please refer to the Calendar section on fovll.com for draft dates if/when they have been determined.
Tee Ball and Coach Pitch managers will begin contacting players/parents soon after the League forms the teams. This usually occurs mid to late February.
When will I know about location and schedules for practices?
Each Manager will provide their respective team's practice schedules and location.
When will I know about game schedules?
Game schedules will be posted on the website or emailed from your Manager as soon as they are made available. Typically, schedules are finalized the beginning of March.
Do I have to also buy a team uniform?
The League provides a hat and jersey however you will be required to supply baseball pants, belt and socks. Please wait to purchase these items until your team’s Manager provides the colors being used by your team.
What equipment do I need?
Each player needs to supply their own glove and Little League approved batting helmet. The League does provide a single batting helmet to each team however it is recommended you purchase your own to insure proper fit and hygiene. Bats, balls, tees and catcher's gear will be provided by the league for team practice and game use. Boys are required to wear an athletic cup.
Can I use my own bat?
Absolutely! Approved bats for use in Little League are constantly changing so it is highly recommended you visit http://www.littleleague.org/learn/equipment/baseballbatinfo.htm for the most up to date information and approved bat listings. Please note that as of January 1, 2018, the new USA Baseball Bat Standard will be implemented.
