>>>>>> SPRING 2020 Snack Bar Schedule & Buyout <<<<<<<

Fair Oaks Orangevale Little League is a non-profit, all volunteer, youth baseball organization.  Our snack bar is one of the most important parts of our community and is our primary source of fundraising for our league.  This is the reason we ask you during the registration process to agree to volunteer one shift in the snack bar.  However, the snack bar only works if we have every family taking care of their shift.

How It Works

When your team is the “away” team, you will be responsible for having a volunteer worker in the snack bar.  Please schedule your shift with your team parent once game schedules are sent out.

You are responsible for coverage of your assigned shift in the Snack Bar. This can be a parent, grandparent, family member, or “buyout” worker (see below).  If you have a friend or family member that offers to cover your shift, that is fine as well, as long as that individual is 18 years of age or older.  If you or the person you have lined up to cover your shift fails to show up for your assigned shift, we will be forced to stop your child’s game until your team provides a volunteer.

The average shift is 3 hours and does not end when your child’s game ends.  Shifts are over once you are released by the snack bar supervisor.

During your shift your duties may include but are not limited to set up, preparing food (this includes barbecuing), sales, restocking, sweeping, moping, and general cleaning.

You may not bring your children into the snack bar. Please make child care arrangements for them if needed.

Shift Time

We try our best to open the snack bar 15min before game time so that players, coaches, and umpires can get anything they need so please arrive for your shift on time.

For 5pm game times, Monday – Friday

ALL DIVISIONS shifts start at 4:30pm and work until you are released by your supervisor

For 5:30pm game times, Monday – Friday

ALL DIVISIONS shifts start at 5pm and work until you are released by your supervisor

For Saturday game - Your team parent will receive a schedule for Saturday shifts.  However, shift times are 8am – 11am, 11am – 2pm, 2pm – 5pm, and 5pm – close.

Closing Time!!!

Our snack bar does everything we can to accommodate our families.  However, in an effort to get our volunteers home at a decent hour FOVLL will be implementing a closing time for the snack bar.  We will remain open until the last game ends OR “Last Call” at 7:45pm, whichever is earlier.  Our goal is to be cleaned and locked up by 8pm.

Snack Bar Tickets

This is a great alternative to providing a team snack.  Don’t hassle with packing juice boxes, oranges, or cookies, let us do the work!  We offer snack bar tickets for $2.50ea or you can team pack of 15 tickets for $32.00 (a $5.50 savings).  These can be used toward a Hot Dog Meal Deal (hot dog, bag of chips, and a Capri Sun) or any items they chose up to $2.50.

Buy Out Program

If you would rather “buyout” of your shift, FOVLL will provide a list of approved snack bar workers that can be used if you chose not to volunteer.  To make those arrangements you will contact the worker directly and see if they are available to your date and time.  We ask that you do not mass text and allow a reasonable amount of time for them to respond.  Most of them are high school kids and may be in class.  We suggest the fee of $30 per 3-hour shift.

Become an approved “buyout” worker

Becoming a “buyout” worker is not just for teens!  This is a great way for anyone to earn additional money with great hours.

Requirements:

  1. You must be 15 year of age or older
  2. You must attend snack bar orientation/interview (Check the website for dates and times)

If you, a friend or family member, would like to become an approved “buyout snack bar worker” please email snackbar@fovll.com.

Become a Supervisor

We are always looking for several great volunteers to help as supervisors.  This is a great opportunity to get your hours in as well as become a valuable part or our league.

Currently, our “buyer” position for our snack bar is filled.  If you are interested in getting more involved with the snack bar as a supervisor please contact snackbar@fovll.com.

Q & A:

Q: Why is my shift time during my child’s game?  I don’t want to miss a moment!

A: We are all parents too and understand the importance of watching our kids play.  Unfortunately, we have found that people do not show up on days their children are not playing.  This causes a lot of problems and our efficiency.  Splitting your shift is a great way to meet your responsibility as well as see some of the game.

Q: My team only has 11 away games but 13 players. What do I do with the families that need to meet their snack bar duties?

A: Don’t worry, there is always extra work to be done.  Each team will be assigned some additional shifts throughout the season for these additional families.  Most likely the shifts will be during big events like opening day, hit-a-thon fundraiser, or closing ceremonies.
